Fall Registration Update

Registration is Open Online - Walk-up Registration Coming Soon!

Updated Tuesday August 1, 2017 by Stephen Marrero.

Hello Baseball Families-

I hope you are all enjoying the summer months!  In just over a month, summer will wind down and the fall season activities will ramp up!  If you are going by the school calendar, it will be much sooner than that.

Registration opened a few weeks ago online and is off to a strong start!  Thank you to all who have registered!  I figured it was time for a summer update as many of you have contacted me with questions about the season ahead.  The summer has flown by so quickly, when I started getting the fall registration questions, I looked at my calendar and thought, “Wow! I’d better get an update out to all of you!”

In a few days you may start to see signs around town and advertisements in the paper & on Facebook.  If you enjoy playing with us, please tell your friends!

So, with the season sneaking up on us, I wanted to share some information to all of you based on some of the questions you have asked me.

  1. Registration is open online at http://manatee.baberuthonline.com
  2. The age for the fall season is determined by the players age as of April 30, 2018.  Fall is when many players (turning 5, 7, 9, 11, 13) move up to the next level.  We encourage all who are scheduled to move up, to do so with their peers in the fall.
  3. Requests to move up must be done in writing and must also include a separate recommendation from your prior coach, also in writing (manateecalripken@gmail.com).
  4. Our league is for boys and girls!
  5. Practices are generally one night per week depending on the team you are on. Usually the younger divisions go in the earlier time slots, while the older divisions take the later ones.  Most games are on Saturdays, starting usually with the youngest divisions around 9:00 and progressing through the age groups as the day goes on.  Some variations to this schedule may apply.
  6. Opening Day is scheduled for September 16th and the season is scheduled to end the Saturday before Thanksgiving (Babe Ruth players may after Thanksgiving).
  7. Our age groups and costs are as follows (Note: there is a $5 online registration fee from SI Play):

                 T-ball (ages 3-4) - $40 – Players must have turned 3 by May 1st, 2017.

                Coach Pitch (ages 5-6) - $95

Rookies (also called Machine Pitch) (ages 7-8) - $150

Minors (also called Kid Pitch) (ages 9-10) - $180

                Majors (ages 11-12) - $180

                Babe Ruth (ages 13-14) - $200

  1. We have had a strong showing at our first two Babe Ruth workouts (ages 13-14) and I am encouraged about getting the program launched for years to come!
  2. In-Person registration dates are as follows at the Heritage Harbour concession stand:

                Friday, August 11th – 6-8PM

                Saturday, August 12th – 10AM-2PM

                Sunday, August 13th – 1-3PM

  1. Tryouts (evaluations) for Rookies, Minors, Majors, and Babe Ruth are August 19th. There will be a brief parent meeting prior to each tryout.  Times are posted online.
  2. Bat requirements will change in 2018!  If you are looking to purchase a new bat, please note the change does not go into effect until January 2018.  DO NOT purchase an expensive bat for the fall that may not be eligible in 2018!  Read about the changes here at baberuthleague.org/bat-rules.aspx
  3. Anyone interested in managing a team in the fall, information is posted on the website about what is required. E-mail me with questions.

In addition to the above information, we have added a FAQ section on our league site.   If you have any questions not answered there, feel free to reach out to us at manateecalripken@gmail.com

More information will start coming through via e-mail, league site, and Facebook, so please check back often.

The season will be here before you know it.  I am truly looking forward to seeing you all in the weeks/months to come!
